What is Emotional & Behavioral Functioning?

Some children may experience difficulty with emotional regulation, anxiety, frequent frustration, or withdrawal from others. These challenges can affect how they function at home, in school, and in social situations. This part of the evaluation explores emotional well-being, behavior patterns, and coping skills to better understand the child’s experiences and guide recommendations for support if needed.

Common Areas Assessed:

  1. Social, Emotional, and Behavioral Functioning
Parents, teachers, or other caregivers complete standardized rating forms that provide insight into mood, anxiety, withdrawal, emotional regulation, and behavior across different settings. These tools help clarify how the child is managing daily challenges and whether emotional or behavioral difficulties may be affecting functioning. This information is combined with clinical observations to guide meaningful recommendations.

  2. Academic Achievement (if needed)
In some cases, academic testing may be included to explore whether emotional or behavioral concerns are impacting learning. Assessing areas like reading, writing, and math can help determine if additional academic support is needed in the classroom.

Please Note: Every evaluation is individually tailored. The specific tools and procedures used may vary depending on the unique needs of the individual being assessed.
